Shoreditch Fashion Show: Performers

Last night I was invited to Offbeats biannual Shoreditch Fashion show in association with Batiste. This great event and gives young aspiring designers, musicians, artists and DJs to display their creativity. I must say music line-up well-chosen and simply electrifying. Guests were enjoying performances from The Voice finalist Vince Kidd (season 1, team Jessie J), Lydia Bayliss from Welsh with the look to die and amazing voice, XFM New Music Award finalist Kill It Kid band and last but definitely not least headliner of Wireless festival 2013 Rufio Summers.

Vince Kidd was the first singer on stage. He performed few of his songs and a cover. I absolutely loved his acoustic performance. Interesting fact about his career before The Voice: a chance night out led Vince to a phone call from the King of Pop Michael Jackson! Vince promptly burst into song, with Michael declaring Vince a future star. After the Voice Vince Kidd was signed to Island Records.

I missed chance to see Lydia Bayliss performing on stage week ago when I attended hip hop band’s Suffice album launch party and was late. It was regret but I forgot everything after yesterdays gig. Lydia also performed acoustically – just her and her amazing guitarist (I’m kinda sure I’ve seen him performing with some other band or singer… Well, I will find out 🙂 )

Third on stage was the band ‘Kill It Kid’. With all accomplishments band is definitely one to watch in music industry. Signed just 12 weeks from inception following a John Parish (PJ Harvey) produced EP; Kill It Kid hit Ryan Hadlock’s (The Gossip, Johnny Flynn) Seattle studio to lay down their début album – later critically appraised across the board (“An Outstanding British Record 9/10” Clash Magazine. XFM New Music Award finalists, alongside The XX & Florence).

Last but not least on stage went Rufio Summers. Distilling the rootsy sensibilities of Jack White and Jimi Hendrix with added hip hop swagger, he is bringing Blues into the modern era without compromising its integrity. And that’s what he did! Rufio brought the roof down with a true rock-star display and, off the back of the event, he went on to headline Wireless Festival 2013!
